# Austrian vs Wizz Air

The clearest difference is monetization model: Austrian at free against Wizz Air's free with in-app purchases. Wizz Air's advantage is ratings volume (27K vs 5.1K). On price, rating, review sentiment and update cadence there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Neither carries in-app purchases, so what you see is what you pay.

On the App Store both sit at effectively the same score — 4.9 for Austrian against 4.8 for Wizz Air. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Wizz Air has 27K ratings behind it against 5.1K, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews are what separate them: 32% of Austrian's written reviews are positive against 28% of Wizz Air's.

Austrian ships an update every 2 weeks, Wizz Air every 3 weeks. The most recent releases landed on November 1, 2026 and November 4, 2026 respectively.
