# Sun Sentinel vs The St. Augustine Record

The clearest difference is monetization model: The St. Augustine Record at free with in-app purchases against Sun Sentinel's subscription. The St. Augustine Record also leads on review sentiment (38% vs 27%). Sun Sentinel's advantage is ratings volume (7K vs 209) and rating (4.5 vs 4.3). On price, update cadence, ads and in-app purchases there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Sun Sentinel sells 4 in-app purchases, starting at $19.99 per month and The St. Augustine Record sells 4 in-app purchases, starting at $9.99 per month. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

Sun Sentinel holds the better App Store score, 4.5 against 4.3. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Sun Sentinel has 7K ratings behind it against 209, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 27% of Sun Sentinel's written reviews are positive against 38% of The St. Augustine Record's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

Both ship on a similar rhythm, roughly monthly. The most recent releases landed on October 18, 2026 and September 30, 2026 respectively.
