# Sun Sentinel vs Miami Beach Journal

The clearest difference is monetization model: Miami Beach Journal at free with in-app purchases against Sun Sentinel's subscription. Miami Beach Journal also leads on rating (5.0 vs 4.5) and update cadence (every 3 days vs monthly). Sun Sentinel's advantage is ratings volume (7K vs 1) and chart position (#89 vs unranked). On price, ads, in-app purchases and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Sun Sentinel sells 4 in-app purchases, starting at $19.99 per month and Miami Beach Journal sells 2 in-app purchases, starting at $24.99 per month. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

Miami Beach Journal holds the better App Store score, 5.0 against 4.5. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Sun Sentinel has 7K ratings behind it against 1, so its average is the more settled of the two.

Sun Sentinel ships an update monthly, Miami Beach Journal every 3 days. The most recent releases landed on November 1, 2026 and October 31, 2026 respectively.
