# HLN vs Het Parool

The clearest difference is rating: Het Parool at 5.0 against HLN's 3.6. HLN's advantage is review sentiment (20% vs 0%) and ratings volume (64 vs 8). On price, update cadence, ads and in-app purchases there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. HLN sells 5 in-app purchases, starting at $6.99 per month and Het Parool sells 4 in-app purchases, starting at $2.49 per 7 days. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

Het Parool holds the better App Store score, 5.0 against 3.6. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: HLN has 64 ratings behind it against 8, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 20% of HLN's written reviews are positive against 0% of Het Parool's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

HLN ships an update fortnightly, Het Parool every 2 weeks. The most recent releases landed on October 27, 2026 and October 26, 2026 respectively.
