# BrewGene vs Foxtail Coffee

The clearest difference is rating: Foxtail Coffee at 4.8 against BrewGene's 4.0. Foxtail Coffee also leads on ratings volume (7.8K vs 75) and update cadence (every 2 weeks vs every 6 weeks). BrewGene's advantage is review sentiment (82% vs 40%) and ads (none vs shown). On price, in-app purchases and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Neither carries in-app purchases, so what you see is what you pay.

Foxtail Coffee holds the better App Store score, 4.8 against 4.0. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Foxtail Coffee has 7.8K ratings behind it against 75, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 82% of BrewGene's written reviews are positive against 40% of Foxtail Coffee's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

BrewGene ships an update every 6 weeks, Foxtail Coffee every 2 weeks. The most recent releases landed on October 2, 2026 and October 18, 2026 respectively.
