# ARTE.tv vs 3sat

The clearest difference is rating: ARTE.tv at 4.5 against 3sat's 3.8. ARTE.tv also leads on ratings volume (400 vs 9) and update cadence (every 6 weeks vs every 5 months). 3sat's advantage is iOS requirement (12.0 vs 18.0). On price, review sentiment, ads and in-app purchases there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Neither carries in-app purchases, so what you see is what you pay.

ARTE.tv holds the better App Store score, 4.5 against 3.8. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: ARTE.tv has 400 ratings behind it against 9, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 61% of ARTE.tv's written reviews are positive against 66% of 3sat's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

ARTE.tv ships an update every 6 weeks, 3sat every 5 months. The most recent releases landed on November 6, 2026 and November 1, 2026 respectively.
