# Algebra vs MathPapa The clearest difference is update cadence: MathPapa at every 3 weeks against Algebra's every 4 months. MathPapa also leads on ratings volume (17K vs 1.3K). Algebra's advantage is iOS requirement (13.0 vs 15.0). On price, rating, review sentiment and ads there is nothing between them. Both are free to download. Algebra sells 10 in-app purchases, starting at $9.99 per month and MathPapa sells 2 in-app purchases, starting at $9.99 per month. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters. On the App Store both sit at effectively the same score — 4.7 for Algebra against 4.7 for MathPapa. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: MathPapa has 17K ratings behind it against 1.3K, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews are what separate them: 84% of Algebra's written reviews are positive against 78% of MathPapa's. Algebra ships an update every 4 months, MathPapa every 3 weeks. The most recent releases landed on October 22, 2026 and October 23, 2026 respectively. ## The numbers | Metric | Algebra | MathPapa | | --- | --- | --- | | Price | Free | Free | | Rating | **[4.7 (1.3K ratings)](https://appshunter.io/ios/app/algebra/id406783021/reviews)** | [4.7 (17K ratings)](https://appshunter.io/ios/app/mathpapa-algebra-calculator/id1024251561/reviews) | | Number of ratings | 1.3K | **17K** | | Positive reviews | **83.7% of reviews** | 77.8% of reviews | | In-app purchases | Yes | Yes | | Ads | No | No | | Update frequency | Every 4 months | **Every 3 weeks** | | Monetization | Free with in-app purchases | Freemium | | Size | 15 MB | 5 MB | | Requires iOS | **13.0** | 15.0 | | Devices | iPhone, iPad, iPod | iPhone, iPad, iPod | | Age rating | 4+ | 12+ | | Developer | [YourTeacher.com](https://appshunter.io/developer/340925628) | [MathPapa, Inc.](https://appshunter.io/developer/1116770141) | ## What reviewers say ### Algebra [App page](https://appshunter.io/ios/app/algebra/id406783021) Master pre-algebra through college algebra with comprehensive video lessons, practice exercises, and assessments.
