# Algebra vs StudyPug

The clearest difference is monetization model: Algebra at free with in-app purchases against StudyPug's subscription. Algebra also leads on ads (none vs shown) and review sentiment (84% vs 59%). StudyPug's advantage is update cadence (every 8 days vs every 4 months). On price, rating, ratings volume and in-app purchases there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Algebra sells 10 in-app purchases, starting at $9.99 per month and StudyPug sells 9 in-app purchases, starting at $4.99 per 7 days. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

On the App Store both sit at effectively the same score — 4.7 for Algebra against 4.7 for StudyPug. Both are backed by a comparable volume of ratings — 1.3K and 2.1K respectively. Written reviews are what separate them: 84% of Algebra's written reviews are positive against 59% of StudyPug's.

Algebra ships an update every 4 months, StudyPug every 8 days. The most recent releases landed on November 6, 2026 and November 2, 2026 respectively.
