# Algebra vs MathTerms

The clearest difference is in-app purchases: MathTerms at none against Algebra's 10. MathTerms also leads on rating (5.0 vs 4.7) and review sentiment (100% vs 84%). Algebra's advantage is update cadence (every 4 months vs every 23 months) and ratings volume (1.3K vs 7). On price, ads, device support and iOS requirement there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Algebra sells 10 in-app purchases, starting at $9.99 per month. MathTerms asks for nothing beyond the download.

MathTerms holds the better App Store score, 5.0 against 4.7. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Algebra has 1.3K ratings behind it against 7, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews point the same way: 84% of Algebra's written reviews are positive against 100% of MathTerms's.

Algebra ships an update every 4 months, MathTerms every 23 months. The most recent releases landed on October 22, 2026 and October 7, 2026 respectively.
