# ABC7 Bay Area vs The Press

The clearest difference is rating: The Press at 5.0 against ABC7 Bay Area's 4.6. The Press also leads on monetization model (ad-supported vs free with in-app purchases) and iOS requirement (13.0 vs 17.0). ABC7 Bay Area's advantage is ratings volume (16K vs 6) and update cadence (fortnightly vs every 6 weeks). On price, ads, in-app purchases and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Neither carries in-app purchases, so what you see is what you pay.

The Press holds the better App Store score, 5.0 against 4.6. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: ABC7 Bay Area has 16K ratings behind it against 6, so its average is the more settled of the two.

ABC7 Bay Area ships an update fortnightly, The Press every 6 weeks. The most recent releases landed on October 27, 2026 and October 29, 2026 respectively.
