# Splice vs Efectum

The clearest difference is rating: Splice at 4.6 against Efectum's 4.0. Splice also leads on ads (none vs shown) and ratings volume (431K vs 4). Efectum's advantage is monetization model (free with in-app purchases vs subscription) and iOS requirement (12.0 vs 14.0). On price, review sentiment, update cadence and in-app purchases there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Splice sells 7 in-app purchases, starting at $9.99 per 7 days and Efectum sells 10 in-app purchases, starting at $1.99 per month. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

Splice holds the better App Store score, 4.6 against 4.0. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Splice has 431K ratings behind it against 4, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews point the same way: 71% of Splice's written reviews are positive against 64% of Efectum's.

Splice ships an update fortnightly, Efectum every 2 weeks. The most recent releases landed on October 29, 2026 and October 23, 2026 respectively.
