# Splice vs Pause

The clearest difference is price: Splice at Free against Pause's $2.99. Splice also leads on ratings volume (431K vs 71) and rating (4.6 vs 4.3). Pause's advantage is in-app purchases (none vs 11) and update cadence (every 5 days vs fortnightly). On ads and device support there is nothing between them.

Splice is free to download; Pause costs $2.99 up front. Splice sells 7 in-app purchases, starting at $9.99 per 7 days. Pause asks for nothing beyond the download.

Splice holds the better App Store score, 4.6 against 4.3. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Splice has 431K ratings behind it against 71, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews point the same way: 71% of Splice's written reviews are positive against 63% of Pause's.

Splice ships an update fortnightly, Pause every 5 days. The most recent releases landed on October 31, 2026 and October 30, 2026 respectively.
