# Splice vs Reel Maker

The clearest difference is ratings volume: Splice at 431K against Reel Maker's 8.4K. Splice also leads on chart position (#18 vs unranked) and iOS requirement (14.0 vs 17.0). On price, rating, review sentiment and update cadence there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Splice sells 7 in-app purchases, starting at $9.99 per 7 days and Reel Maker sells 13 in-app purchases, starting at $2.99 per 7 days. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

On the App Store both sit at effectively the same score — 4.6 for Splice against 4.7 for Reel Maker. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Splice has 431K ratings behind it against 8.4K, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews are what separate them: 71% of Splice's written reviews are positive against 65% of Reel Maker's.

Splice ships an update fortnightly, Reel Maker every 3 weeks. Both last shipped on November 1, 2026.
