# Voxy vs OpenAcademy

The clearest difference is rating: Voxy at 4.6 against OpenAcademy's 2.0. Voxy also leads on ratings volume (1.1K vs 1) and monetization model (ad-supported vs free with in-app purchases). OpenAcademy's advantage is review sentiment (100% vs 76%) and iOS requirement (15.0 vs 17.0). On price, update cadence, ads and in-app purchases there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Voxy sells 3 one-off in-app purchases and OpenAcademy sells 10 one-off in-app purchases. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

Voxy holds the better App Store score, 4.6 against 2.0. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Voxy has 1.1K ratings behind it against 1, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 76% of Voxy's written reviews are positive against 100% of OpenAcademy's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

Voxy ships an update every 4 weeks, OpenAcademy monthly. The most recent releases landed on October 22, 2026 and October 24, 2026 respectively.
