# Bongos vs Classic Drum

The clearest difference is rating: Classic Drum at 4.5 against Bongos's 3.3. Classic Drum also leads on update cadence (weekly vs every 2 months) and ratings volume (2K vs 23). Bongos's advantage is iOS requirement (12.0 vs 15.6). On price, review sentiment, ads and in-app purchases there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Bongos sells 1 one-off in-app purchase and Classic Drum sells 10 in-app purchases, starting at $1.99 per month. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

Classic Drum holds the better App Store score, 4.5 against 3.3. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Classic Drum has 2K ratings behind it against 23, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 66% of Bongos's written reviews are positive against 63% of Classic Drum's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

Bongos ships an update every 2 months, Classic Drum weekly. Both last shipped on October 26, 2026.
