# Touchstone vs Needle Music

The clearest difference is rating: Touchstone at 5.0 against Needle Music's 4.1. Touchstone also leads on update cadence (every 5 days vs every 2 weeks). Needle Music's advantage is ratings volume (367 vs 4). On price, ads, in-app purchases and monetization model there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Touchstone sells 5 in-app purchases, starting at $2.99 per 6 months and Needle Music sells 8 in-app purchases, starting at $0.99 per 7 days. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

Touchstone holds the better App Store score, 5.0 against 4.1. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Needle Music has 367 ratings behind it against 4, so its average is the more settled of the two.

Touchstone ships an update every 5 days, Needle Music every 2 weeks. The most recent releases landed on November 1, 2026 and October 29, 2026 respectively.
