# Map Log vs Kurumaki Calendar

The clearest difference is monetization model: Kurumaki Calendar at free against Map Log's paid. Kurumaki Calendar also leads on update cadence (every 10 days vs every 3 months) and ratings volume (33 vs 1). Map Log's advantage is rating (5.0 vs 4.5). On price, ads, in-app purchases and device support there is nothing between them.

Map Log costs $1.99 and Kurumaki Calendar $1.99 up front. Neither carries in-app purchases, so what you see is what you pay.

Map Log holds the better App Store score, 5.0 against 4.5. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Kurumaki Calendar has 33 ratings behind it against 1, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 70% of Map Log's written reviews are positive against 84% of Kurumaki Calendar's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

Map Log ships an update every 3 months, Kurumaki Calendar every 10 days. The most recent releases landed on October 28, 2026 and October 26, 2026 respectively.
