# RPG vs Cryptomator

The clearest difference is update cadence: Cryptomator at every 3 weeks against RPG's every 5 months. Cryptomator also leads on ratings volume (438 vs 30). RPG's advantage is review sentiment (73% vs 63%) and device support (4 vs 2). On price, rating, ads and in-app purchases there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. RPG sells 1 one-off in-app purchase and Cryptomator sells 5 in-app purchases, starting at $9.99 per year. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

On the App Store both sit at effectively the same score — 4.5 for RPG against 4.4 for Cryptomator. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Cryptomator has 438 ratings behind it against 30, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews are what separate them: 73% of RPG's written reviews are positive against 63% of Cryptomator's.

RPG ships an update every 5 months, Cryptomator every 3 weeks. Both last shipped on October 23, 2026.
