# Cuckoo vs Hourly Chime

The clearest difference is in-app purchases: Hourly Chime at none against Cuckoo's 1. Hourly Chime also leads on ads (none vs shown) and update cadence (every 9 days vs every 3 months). On price, review sentiment, ratings volume and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Cuckoo sells 1 one-off in-app purchase. Hourly Chime asks for nothing beyond the download.

Hourly Chime holds the better App Store score, 3.7 against 3.4. Both are backed by a comparable volume of ratings — 16 and 22 respectively. Written reviews complicate that: 68% of Cuckoo's written reviews are positive against 65% of Hourly Chime's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

Cuckoo ships an update every 3 months, Hourly Chime every 9 days. The most recent releases landed on October 23, 2026 and October 29, 2026 respectively.
