# Speedometer Classic vs Speedometer GPS+

The clearest difference is rating: Speedometer Classic at 4.6 against Speedometer GPS+'s 3.5. Speedometer Classic also leads on ratings volume (180 vs 2) and iOS requirement (8.0 vs 13.0). Speedometer GPS+'s advantage is review sentiment (47% vs 34%) and update cadence (every 6 months vs every 13 months). On price, ads, in-app purchases and monetization model there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Speedometer Classic sells 1 one-off in-app purchase and Speedometer GPS+ sells 1 one-off in-app purchase. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

Speedometer Classic holds the better App Store score, 4.6 against 3.5. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Speedometer Classic has 180 ratings behind it against 2, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 34% of Speedometer Classic's written reviews are positive against 47% of Speedometer GPS+'s, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

Speedometer Classic ships an update every 13 months, Speedometer GPS+ every 6 months. The most recent releases landed on October 21, 2026 and October 14, 2026 respectively.
