# BoardEffect vs M

The clearest difference is rating: BoardEffect at 3.5 against M's 2.6. M's advantage is update cadence (every 2 weeks vs every 2 months) and review sentiment (67% vs 58%). On price, ratings volume, ads and in-app purchases there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Neither carries in-app purchases, so what you see is what you pay.

BoardEffect holds the better App Store score, 3.5 against 2.6. Both are backed by a comparable volume of ratings — 48 and 85 respectively. Written reviews complicate that: 58% of BoardEffect's written reviews are positive against 67% of M's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

BoardEffect ships an update every 2 months, M every 2 weeks. The most recent releases landed on September 30, 2026 and October 5, 2026 respectively.
