# Expresso vs Record

The clearest difference is rating: Expresso at 4.7 against Record's 2.7. Expresso also leads on update cadence (fortnightly vs every 2 months) and ratings volume (56 vs 15). Record's advantage is review sentiment (66% vs 24%). On price, ads, in-app purchases and monetization model there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Expresso sells 13 in-app purchases, starting at $8.99 per month and Record sells 9 in-app purchases, starting at $3.49 per month. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

Expresso holds the better App Store score, 4.7 against 2.7. Both are backed by a comparable volume of ratings — 56 and 15 respectively. Written reviews complicate that: 24% of Expresso's written reviews are positive against 66% of Record's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

Expresso ships an update fortnightly, Record every 2 months. The most recent releases landed on October 15, 2026 and October 13, 2026 respectively.
