# ThumbRun vs Finalist

The clearest difference is rating: Finalist at 4.0 against ThumbRun's 3.5. ThumbRun's advantage is update cadence (every 6 days vs every 2 months) and ratings volume (27 vs 3). On price, ads, in-app purchases and monetization model there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Neither carries in-app purchases, so what you see is what you pay.

Finalist holds the better App Store score, 4.0 against 3.5. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: ThumbRun has 27 ratings behind it against 3, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 75% of ThumbRun's written reviews are positive against 67% of Finalist's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

ThumbRun ships an update every 6 days, Finalist every 2 months. The most recent releases landed on October 24, 2026 and October 27, 2026 respectively.
