# MLive.com vs The Obituary App

The clearest difference is monetization model: The Obituary App at free with in-app purchases against MLive.com's subscription. The Obituary App also leads on review sentiment (26% vs 12%) and iOS requirement (15.0 vs 17.0). MLive.com's advantage is ratings volume (16K vs 709) and chart position (#110 vs unranked). On price, rating, update cadence and ads there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. MLive.com sells 17 in-app purchases, starting at $7.99 per month and The Obituary App sells 9 in-app purchases, starting at $1.99 per month. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

On the App Store both sit at effectively the same score — 4.4 for MLive.com against 4.4 for The Obituary App. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: MLive.com has 16K ratings behind it against 709, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews are what separate them: 12% of MLive.com's written reviews are positive against 26% of The Obituary App's.

Both ship on a similar rhythm, roughly every 3 weeks. The most recent releases landed on October 29, 2026 and October 26, 2026 respectively.
