Why did we create another timer app when there are already dozens in the App Store? Because “Timer Z is the Last Timer You’ll Ever Need”! It's simple to use yet full featured. For example, you can easily set a timer to give a 15 seconds warning before another alarming at 1 minute mark. Some unique features of Timer Z are: - A simple count down timer can be set and started with just 3 taps - Multiple timers can be set and can run simultaneously - The timer will fire even if the Timer Z app is running in the background - Each timer can be named and set to expire after a time interval, or at a specific point in time like an alarm - While a timer is running, it can show remaining time or elapsed time since start, either in full hour/min/sec or just seconds - Background graphics shows the percent of time remaining - A running timer can be paused and resumed to continue where it left off - When a timer expires, there is a choice of alarm sounds, vibration, or no sound at all - Optionally the alarm can continue to sound until acknowledged - Upon expiration, a timer can start another timer, including itself in a loop - Timer activity history is saved and can be emailed, great for record keeping - Timer data can be saved and loaded from a linked Dropbox account Whether you’re looking for a simple timer, or one with all the bells-and-whistles, Timer Z is the best choice! NOTE: this version is limited to 2 timers. Use the convenient in-app purchase of Pro feature to add an unlimited number of timers, and eliminate all advertisements. Ask a question, and the whole room answers in seconds. MeshVote runs live votes at meetings, assemblies and conferences over a Bluetooth mesh between the phones in the room, with no Wi-Fi or cell signal needed. Free for groups of up to 10 members. Create a group in seconds, share a QR code, start polling. Joining and voting need no account, no sign-up, and no personal information. — THE MESH — MeshVote forms an ad-hoc Bluetooth mesh between nearby devices. Votes and poll data spread by gossip — each phone relays to its neighbors, who relay to theirs. The result: real-time voting that works in airplane mode, in basements, at remote retreats, and in venues with no reliable connectivity. Designed for assemblies of thousands, with Network Sync for large halls. — NETWORK SYNC — Every group runs an encrypted cloud relay alongside the Bluetooth mesh by default. Members joining mid-session catch up instantly, and votes propagate even between devices out of Bluetooth range. Poll questions, ballots and chat are encrypted with your group's invite key, which we never store — their contents are unreadable to us. Need maximum isolation? Admins can create a group with Network Sync off: it runs pure Bluetooth, and its polls, votes and chat never leave the room or reach a server. The choice is made at group creation. Bluetooth Sync stays flexible — admins can switch it off or back on any time while Network Sync is on, so a group always keeps a transport. — RUNNING THE ROOM — Project the whole agenda: presentation mode shows every open poll at once in a live grid, each tile with its own ballot, running chart and vote total. Tap a tile to focus one poll full-screen; close it from its tile, or end the round with Close All and leave the wall of results up for the room. On iPad, the poll list and the live results sit side by side. — FEATURES — • Bluetooth Sync — peer-to-peer Bluetooth mesh; no Wi-Fi or cell signal needed • Network Sync (default-on, opt-out per group) — encrypted cloud relay for instant catch-up • Real-time tallies and live turnout for administrators • Ed25519 signatures — every ballot and every closed result is signed and tamper-evident • QR invites — scan an admin's QR to join; any member can show a reusable code — Rally plan • Write-in votes, write-in-only polls, and an abstain option • Poll templates saved to your account, and hand-counted ballots merged into the result at close • Notifications for new polls and chat — encrypted push (Network Sync) or on-device banners (Bluetooth-only groups) • Group announcements; member roster and custom icons (Network Sync groups) • Group chat over the same mesh — Team plan • Export to JSON, CSV, Excel or plaintext; the JSON carries a signed attestation anyone can verify — Team plan • Bulk poll import from Excel, CSV or JSON, and additional admins — Community plan • Geofencing — restrict voting to a boundary you define — Rally plan — PLANS — Free for groups of up to 10 members, with unlimited polls. Larger groups and the plan-marked features need a subscription on your account, applied to the groups you create: Team (50 members), Community (250), Rally (1,000). For bigger assemblies, write to support@magnalia.foundation. — PRIVACY BY DESIGN — • Votes are a recorded show of hands — encrypted with your group's key, private from outsiders and from us, not a secret ballot. • Group invite keys never reach our servers — the relay carries the encrypted contents but never the key that opens them. • A group with Network Sync off keeps its polls, votes and chat on the devices in the room. — FOR THE ROOM, BY THE ROOM — Built by Magnalia Foundation, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, for assemblies that want fast, fair, verifiable decisions without depending on cloud infrastructure they don't control. Verdict

The call

The clearest difference is rating: TimerZ at 4.8 against MeshVote's 4.0. TimerZ also leads on ratings volume (12 vs 4). MeshVote's advantage is review sentiment (100% vs 62%) and update cadence (fortnightly vs every 3 months). On price, ads, in-app purchases and monetization model there is nothing between them.

ReceptionRating · Positive reviews · Number of ratings

TimerZ holds the better App Store score, 4.8 against 4.0. Both are backed by a comparable volume of ratings — 12 and 4 respectively. Written reviews complicate that: 62% of TimerZ's written reviews are positive against 100% of MeshVote's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

UpkeepUpdate frequency

TimerZ ships an update every 3 months, MeshVote fortnightly. The most recent releases landed on November 1, 2026 and November 5, 2026 respectively.
