# iMotion vs Life Lapse Stop Motion

The clearest difference is monetization model: Life Lapse Stop Motion at free with in-app purchases against iMotion's subscription. Life Lapse Stop Motion also leads on ads (none vs shown) and update cadence (every 2 weeks vs every 2 months). iMotion's advantage is iOS requirement (13.0 vs 15.0). On price, review sentiment, in-app purchases and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. iMotion sells 5 in-app purchases, starting at $2.99 per 7 days and Life Lapse Stop Motion sells 5 in-app purchases, starting at $6.99 per 7 days. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

Life Lapse Stop Motion holds the better App Store score, 4.8 against 4.5. Both are backed by a comparable volume of ratings — 2.9K and 9.5K respectively. Written reviews complicate that: 73% of iMotion's written reviews are positive against 69% of Life Lapse Stop Motion's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

iMotion ships an update every 2 months, Life Lapse Stop Motion every 2 weeks. Both last shipped on November 2, 2026.
