# SILive.com vs Grand Rapids Press

The clearest difference is monetization model: Grand Rapids Press at free with in-app purchases against SILive.com's subscription. Grand Rapids Press also leads on ads (none vs shown). SILive.com's advantage is update cadence (every 3 weeks vs every 5 months) and rating (4.6 vs 4.3). On price, review sentiment, in-app purchases and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. SILive.com sells 18 in-app purchases, starting at $1.99 per month and Grand Rapids Press sells 1 in-app purchase, starting at $24.99 per month. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

SILive.com holds the better App Store score, 4.6 against 4.3. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: SILive.com has 6.6K ratings behind it against 670, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews point the same way: 44% of SILive.com's written reviews are positive against 43% of Grand Rapids Press's.

SILive.com ships an update every 3 weeks, Grand Rapids Press every 5 months. The most recent releases landed on October 16, 2026 and October 15, 2026 respectively.
