# Converter vs Basic Unit Converter

The clearest difference is rating: Converter at 4.9 against Basic Unit Converter's 4.0. Converter also leads on ratings volume (897 vs 2). Basic Unit Converter's advantage is update cadence (every 2 weeks vs every 2 months) and iOS requirement (10.0 vs 15.6). On price, review sentiment, ads and in-app purchases there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Neither carries in-app purchases, so what you see is what you pay.

Converter holds the better App Store score, 4.9 against 4.0. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Converter has 897 ratings behind it against 2, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 96% of Converter's written reviews are positive against 100% of Basic Unit Converter's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

Converter ships an update every 2 months, Basic Unit Converter every 2 weeks. The most recent releases landed on September 30, 2026 and September 19, 2026 respectively.
