# Flowpaper vs Background Text

The clearest difference is ads: Flowpaper at none against Background Text's shown. Flowpaper also leads on ratings volume (326 vs 2) and review sentiment (78% vs 67%). Background Text's advantage is rating (5.0 vs 4.7). On price, update cadence, in-app purchases and monetization model there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Flowpaper sells 4 in-app purchases, starting at $1.99 per 7 days and Background Text sells 3 in-app purchases, starting at $0.99 per month. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

Background Text holds the better App Store score, 5.0 against 4.7. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Flowpaper has 326 ratings behind it against 2, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 78% of Flowpaper's written reviews are positive against 67% of Background Text's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

Flowpaper ships an update every 8 days, Background Text every 10 days. The most recent releases landed on November 6, 2026 and October 30, 2026 respectively.
