# GPS Tracks vs CourseSpeed

The clearest difference is in-app purchases: CourseSpeed at none against GPS Tracks's 3. CourseSpeed also leads on rating (5.0 vs 4.7) and iOS requirement (12.0 vs 17.0). GPS Tracks's advantage is ratings volume (18K vs 3) and chart position (#66 vs unranked). On price, update cadence, ads and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. GPS Tracks sells 3 in-app purchases, starting at $29.99 per year. CourseSpeed asks for nothing beyond the download.

CourseSpeed holds the better App Store score, 5.0 against 4.7. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: GPS Tracks has 18K ratings behind it against 3, so its average is the more settled of the two.

GPS Tracks ships an update fortnightly, CourseSpeed every 4 weeks. The most recent releases landed on November 2, 2026 and October 29, 2026 respectively.
