# GPS Tracks vs HikeTracker

The clearest difference is in-app purchases: HikeTracker at none against GPS Tracks's 3. HikeTracker also leads on rating (5.0 vs 4.7) and review sentiment (100% vs 85%). GPS Tracks's advantage is ratings volume (18K vs 5) and update cadence (fortnightly vs monthly). On price and ads there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. GPS Tracks sells 3 in-app purchases, starting at $29.99 per year. HikeTracker asks for nothing beyond the download.

HikeTracker holds the better App Store score, 5.0 against 4.7. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: GPS Tracks has 18K ratings behind it against 5, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews point the same way: 85% of GPS Tracks's written reviews are positive against 100% of HikeTracker's.

GPS Tracks ships an update fortnightly, HikeTracker monthly. The most recent releases landed on October 16, 2026 and October 3, 2026 respectively.
