# GPS Tracks vs Contact Map

The clearest difference is monetization model: GPS Tracks at free with in-app purchases against Contact Map's subscription. GPS Tracks also leads on ratings volume (18K vs 11) and rating (4.7 vs 4.5). Contact Map's advantage is update cadence (every 2 days vs fortnightly) and iOS requirement (15.5 vs 17.0). On price, ads and in-app purchases there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. GPS Tracks sells 3 in-app purchases, starting at $29.99 per year and Contact Map sells 4 in-app purchases, starting at $2.99 per 7 days. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

GPS Tracks holds the better App Store score, 4.7 against 4.5. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: GPS Tracks has 18K ratings behind it against 11, so its average is the more settled of the two.

GPS Tracks ships an update fortnightly, Contact Map every 2 days. The most recent releases landed on October 19, 2026 and October 9, 2026 respectively.
