# Absolute Board vs Notes Writer

The clearest difference is review sentiment: Absolute Board at 90% against Notes Writer's 45%. Absolute Board also leads on in-app purchases (none vs 9) and iOS requirement (8.0 vs 26.0). Notes Writer's advantage is rating (4.5 vs 3.6) and update cadence (every 5 days vs every 2 months). On price, ads and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Notes Writer sells 8 in-app purchases, starting at $1.99 per 7 days. Absolute Board asks for nothing beyond the download.

Notes Writer holds the better App Store score, 4.5 against 3.6. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Notes Writer has 7.3K ratings behind it against 12, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 90% of Absolute Board's written reviews are positive against 45% of Notes Writer's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

Absolute Board ships an update every 2 months, Notes Writer every 5 days. The most recent releases landed on October 23, 2026 and October 26, 2026 respectively.
