# Learn Chinese (Hello vs Learn Chinese

The clearest difference is rating: Learn Chinese at 4.5 against Learn Chinese (Hello's 3.4. Learn Chinese also leads on update cadence (every 3 weeks vs every 5 months) and ratings volume (51 vs 7). Learn Chinese (Hello's advantage is ads (none vs shown) and review sentiment (29% vs 0%). On price, in-app purchases, monetization model and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Learn Chinese (Hello sells 10 one-off in-app purchases and Learn Chinese sells 9 in-app purchases, starting at $7.99 per 7 days. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

Learn Chinese holds the better App Store score, 4.5 against 3.4. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Learn Chinese has 51 ratings behind it against 7, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 29% of Learn Chinese (Hello's written reviews are positive against 0% of Learn Chinese's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

Learn Chinese (Hello ships an update every 5 months, Learn Chinese every 3 weeks. The most recent releases landed on November 1, 2026 and November 7, 2026 respectively.
