# GV vs TiveHD

The clearest difference is rating: GV at 4.3 against TiveHD's 3.7. GV also leads on ratings volume (1.7K vs 3). TiveHD's advantage is in-app purchases (none vs 1) and review sentiment (44% vs 22%). On price, update cadence, ads and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. GV sells 1 one-off in-app purchase. TiveHD asks for nothing beyond the download.

GV holds the better App Store score, 4.3 against 3.7. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: GV has 1.7K ratings behind it against 3, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 22% of GV's written reviews are positive against 44% of TiveHD's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

GV ships an update every 3 months, TiveHD every 2 months. The most recent releases landed on October 26, 2026 and October 23, 2026 respectively.
