# IDrive Online Backup vs Free Disk

The clearest difference is rating: IDrive Online Backup at 4.3 against Free Disk's 1.7. IDrive Online Backup also leads on ratings volume (5K vs 3) and update cadence (every 3 weeks vs every 5 weeks). Free Disk's advantage is review sentiment (50% vs 40%) and iOS requirement (8.0 vs 16.0). On price, ads, in-app purchases and monetization model there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. IDrive Online Backup sells 10 one-off in-app purchases and Free Disk sells 1 one-off in-app purchase. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

IDrive Online Backup holds the better App Store score, 4.3 against 1.7. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: IDrive Online Backup has 5K ratings behind it against 3, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 40% of IDrive Online Backup's written reviews are positive against 50% of Free Disk's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

IDrive Online Backup ships an update every 3 weeks, Free Disk every 5 weeks. Both last shipped on October 22, 2026.
