# CLEP vs College Math Quiz

The clearest difference is monetization model: College Math Quiz at free with in-app purchases against CLEP's subscription. College Math Quiz also leads on update cadence (every 3 weeks vs every 7 months) and rating (5.0 vs 4.7). CLEP's advantage is ads (none vs shown) and ratings volume (59 vs 2). On price, in-app purchases, device support and iOS requirement there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. CLEP sells 1 in-app purchase, starting at $9.99 per month and College Math Quiz sells 7 in-app purchases, starting at $4.99 per month. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

College Math Quiz holds the better App Store score, 5.0 against 4.7. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: CLEP has 59 ratings behind it against 2, so its average is the more settled of the two.

CLEP ships an update every 7 months, College Math Quiz every 3 weeks. The most recent releases landed on October 21, 2026 and October 20, 2026 respectively.
