# GRE vs Vince's GRE Calculator

The clearest difference is in-app purchases: Vince's GRE Calculator at none against GRE's 1. Vince's GRE Calculator also leads on update cadence (every 3 days vs every 6 months) and review sentiment (100% vs 78%). GRE's advantage is rating (4.9 vs 4.5) and ratings volume (174 vs 2). On price, ads and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. GRE sells 1 in-app purchase, starting at $9.99 per month. Vince's GRE Calculator asks for nothing beyond the download.

GRE holds the better App Store score, 4.9 against 4.5. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: GRE has 174 ratings behind it against 2, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 78% of GRE's written reviews are positive against 100% of Vince's GRE Calculator's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

GRE ships an update every 6 months, Vince's GRE Calculator every 3 days. The most recent releases landed on October 21, 2026 and October 12, 2026 respectively.
