# GRE vs GRE® Prep 2026 | Pass Exam

The clearest difference is rating: GRE at 4.9 against GRE® Prep 2026 | Pass Exam's 4.5. GRE also leads on ratings volume (172 vs 30). GRE® Prep 2026 | Pass Exam's advantage is update cadence (every 2 months vs every 6 months). On price, ads, in-app purchases and monetization model there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. GRE sells 1 in-app purchase, starting at $9.99 per month and GRE® Prep 2026 | Pass Exam sells 5 in-app purchases, starting at $4.99 per 7 days. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

GRE holds the better App Store score, 4.9 against 4.5. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: GRE has 172 ratings behind it against 30, so its average is the more settled of the two.

GRE ships an update every 6 months, GRE® Prep 2026 | Pass Exam every 2 months. The most recent releases landed on October 14, 2026 and October 17, 2026 respectively.
