# GRE vs GRE Exam Preparation

The clearest difference is ads: GRE at none against GRE Exam Preparation's shown. GRE Exam Preparation's advantage is update cadence (every 3 months vs every 6 months). On price, in-app purchases, device support and iOS requirement there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. GRE sells 1 in-app purchase, starting at $9.99 per month and GRE Exam Preparation sells 2 in-app purchases, starting at $4.99 per 7 days. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

GRE ships an update every 6 months, GRE Exam Preparation every 3 months. The most recent releases landed on October 21, 2026 and September 24, 2026 respectively.
