# Pastry Chef Pro vs Cake Recipes

The clearest difference is review sentiment: Cake Recipes at 100% against Pastry Chef Pro's 21%. Cake Recipes also leads on ratings volume (46 vs 1) and iOS requirement (13.0 vs 17.6). Pastry Chef Pro's advantage is ads (none vs shown) and rating (5.0 vs 4.6). On price, update cadence, in-app purchases and monetization model there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Pastry Chef Pro sells 3 in-app purchases, starting at $7.99 per month and Cake Recipes sells 1 one-off in-app purchase. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

Pastry Chef Pro holds the better App Store score, 5.0 against 4.6. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Cake Recipes has 46 ratings behind it against 1, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 21% of Pastry Chef Pro's written reviews are positive against 100% of Cake Recipes's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

Pastry Chef Pro ships an update every 4 months, Cake Recipes every 7 months. Both last shipped on October 24, 2026.
