# Tip Calculator vs Gratuity

The clearest difference is ads: Gratuity at none against Tip Calculator's shown. Gratuity also leads on update cadence (every 3 days vs every 6 weeks) and rating (5.0 vs 4.7). Tip Calculator's advantage is ratings volume (12K vs 1). On price, in-app purchases, monetization model and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Tip Calculator sells 7 in-app purchases, starting at $1.99 per 7 days and Gratuity sells 2 in-app purchases, starting at $1.99 per year. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

Gratuity holds the better App Store score, 5.0 against 4.7. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Tip Calculator has 12K ratings behind it against 1, so its average is the more settled of the two.

Tip Calculator ships an update every 6 weeks, Gratuity every 3 days. The most recent releases landed on October 25, 2026 and October 16, 2026 respectively.
