IQ vs 40+ Psychological Tests

The clearest difference is rating: 40+ Psychological Tests at 4.8 against IQ's 4.0. 40+ Psychological Tests also leads on monetization model (free with in-app purchases vs subscription) and update cadence (every 2 months vs every 14 months). IQ's advantage is ads (none vs shown) and review sentiment (92% vs 77%). On price, in-app purchases and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. IQ sells 10 in-app purchases, starting at $1.99 per 7 days and 40+ Psychological Tests sells 1 one-off in-app purchase. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

40+ Psychological Tests holds the better App Store score, 4.8 against 4.0. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: 40+ Psychological Tests has 308 ratings behind it against 4, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 92% of IQ's written reviews are positive against 77% of 40+ Psychological Tests's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

IQ ships an update every 14 months, 40+ Psychological Tests every 2 months. Both last shipped on October 23, 2026.
