# Fastdic vs English Dictionary

The clearest difference is monetization model: Fastdic at free with in-app purchases against English Dictionary's subscription. Fastdic also leads on ratings volume (11K vs 1.2K) and device support (3 vs 1). English Dictionary's advantage is ads (none vs shown) and update cadence (every 10 days vs every 5 weeks). On price, rating, review sentiment and in-app purchases there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Fastdic sells 7 one-off in-app purchases and English Dictionary sells 9 in-app purchases, starting at $2.99 per 7 days. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

On the App Store both sit at effectively the same score — 4.5 for Fastdic against 4.6 for English Dictionary. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Fastdic has 11K ratings behind it against 1.2K, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews split almost evenly too, at 76% and 75% positive.

Fastdic ships an update every 5 weeks, English Dictionary every 10 days. Both last shipped on October 25, 2026.
