# Castlerama vs iComix

The clearest difference is rating: Castlerama at 4.3 against iComix's 3.2. Castlerama also leads on iOS requirement (6.0 vs 16.1). iComix's advantage is monetization model (free vs paid) and update cadence (every 2 months vs every 19 months). On price, review sentiment, ads and in-app purchases there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Neither carries in-app purchases, so what you see is what you pay.

Castlerama holds the better App Store score, 4.3 against 3.2. Both are backed by a comparable volume of ratings — 16 and 57 respectively. Written reviews complicate that: 52% of Castlerama's written reviews are positive against 54% of iComix's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

Castlerama ships an update every 19 months, iComix every 2 months. The most recent releases landed on October 21, 2026 and October 15, 2026 respectively.
