# Hostplus Cup vs NBL

The clearest difference is rating: NBL at 4.8 against Hostplus Cup's 2.0. NBL also leads on update cadence (fortnightly vs every 5 weeks) and ratings volume (10 vs 1). Hostplus Cup's advantage is review sentiment (54% vs 30%). On price, ads, in-app purchases and monetization model there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Neither carries in-app purchases, so what you see is what you pay.

NBL holds the better App Store score, 4.8 against 2.0. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: NBL has 10 ratings behind it against 1, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 54% of Hostplus Cup's written reviews are positive against 30% of NBL's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

Hostplus Cup ships an update every 5 weeks, NBL fortnightly. The most recent releases landed on September 22, 2026 and September 29, 2026 respectively.
