# Litres vs FBReader

The clearest difference is rating: Litres at 4.8 against FBReader's 3.7. Litres also leads on ratings volume (9.2K vs 129) and update cadence (every 11 days vs monthly). FBReader's advantage is iOS requirement (13.0 vs 18.0). On price, review sentiment, ads and in-app purchases there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Litres sells 10 in-app purchases, starting at $4.99 per month and FBReader sells 1 one-off in-app purchase. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

Litres holds the better App Store score, 4.8 against 3.7. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Litres has 9.2K ratings behind it against 129, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 51% of Litres's written reviews are positive against 52% of FBReader's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

Litres ships an update every 11 days, FBReader monthly. The most recent releases landed on November 7, 2026 and November 6, 2026 respectively.
