# Video Star vs Twitch

The clearest difference is rating: Twitch at 4.7 against Video Star's 4.1. Twitch also leads on ratings volume (2.8M vs 90K) and update cadence (every 4 days vs every 2 weeks). Video Star's advantage is ads (none vs shown) and review sentiment (57% vs 34%). On price, in-app purchases, monetization model and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Video Star sells 10 in-app purchases, starting at $5.99 per month and Twitch sells 10 one-off in-app purchases. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

Twitch holds the better App Store score, 4.7 against 4.1. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Twitch has 2.8M ratings behind it against 90K, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 57% of Video Star's written reviews are positive against 34% of Twitch's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

Video Star ships an update every 2 weeks, Twitch every 4 days. Both last shipped on November 3, 2026.
