# Hello Chalk vs Doodle Art

The clearest difference is ads: Hello Chalk at none against Doodle Art's shown. Hello Chalk also leads on iOS requirement (9.3 vs 15.0). Doodle Art's advantage is ratings volume (3.7K vs 34). On price, rating, review sentiment and update cadence there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Hello Chalk sells 2 one-off in-app purchases and Doodle Art sells 2 one-off in-app purchases. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

Doodle Art holds the better App Store score, 4.7 against 4.5. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Doodle Art has 3.7K ratings behind it against 34, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 80% of Hello Chalk's written reviews are positive against 78% of Doodle Art's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

Hello Chalk ships an update every 6 weeks, Doodle Art every 2 months. The most recent releases landed on November 1, 2026 and November 2, 2026 respectively.
