# Retail Inventory vs Octopus Retail POS+

The clearest difference is review sentiment: Octopus Retail POS+ at 100% against Retail Inventory's 26%. Octopus Retail POS+ also leads on update cadence (weekly vs every 8 months). Retail Inventory's advantage is rating (2.6 vs 1.0) and ratings volume (5 vs 1). On price, ads, in-app purchases and monetization model there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Neither carries in-app purchases, so what you see is what you pay.

Retail Inventory holds the better App Store score, 2.6 against 1.0. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Retail Inventory has 5 ratings behind it against 1, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 26% of Retail Inventory's written reviews are positive against 100% of Octopus Retail POS+'s, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

Retail Inventory ships an update every 8 months, Octopus Retail POS+ weekly. The most recent releases landed on October 23, 2026 and October 26, 2026 respectively.
